Since 2002, The Dewar Arts Awards has supported the brightest and best of Scotland’s young artistic talent.

Set up by the then Scottish Executive in memory of Scotland’s first First Minister Donald Dewar, we fund exceptional young artists in any discipline who do not have the financial means to achieve their full potential.

Now in our 15th year, we have never deviated from our core founding principles; to help as many outstanding young people as possible to travel as far as their talent deserves. To mark the occassion, we commissioned a report to deliver two things: a frank record of these 15 years, who has been helped, how, and at what stage, and to tell some quite extraordinary stories through personal interviews. The material will be widely disseminated to encourage a new generation of applicants and archived for the information of future trustees.
